Senior Football Players are Special

I am a senior at Northpoint Christian School. As I was thinking about what to write for this blog, I kept seeing posts on Twitter and Facebook about how this Friday night’s football game will be the last for our senior guys. Right then, I knew exactly what I wanted to write.
I want to brag on the 2013-2014 senior football players. I have watched the majority of this group of guys play football together since the 5th grade. I have seen their struggles, successes, and everything in between, and I am so pleased to say that through it all they have stuck together. Most people would look at football, along with many of the other sports, as just extracurricular activities and something fun to do on the weekends. For these boys, it is about something far more important. Their teammates are their family and football is how they are all united together. I can’t even begin to describe how proud I am of our senior football players. They have gone through so many struggles, including having a new coach almost every year, but their goal of winning has never changed and neither does their motivation to reach it.
Our football program not only impacts their playing ability, but also impacts their lives in several aspects. I have seen these guys grow physically, emotionally, and most important spiritually over the past 8 years. People often have this stereotype of football players to be bullies with bad attitudes. While this may be true for some, it isn’t for these players. Time and time again I see them helping someone in the hallway, building their classmates up when they are down, and praying for each other. As a result, I am very proud to be a 2013-2014 senior at The Point. Nick, Samuel, Van, Trae, Corey, Dalton, James, Drew, and Terrance have represented our class and school so well. So boys, this is it. I hope you have a great senior night and play your hearts out like I know you will! Love you all so much.
