Computer at SBEC

Although Computer Applications 1 is a required course to graduate, I also took it this semester to learn the many exciting possibilities as a result of using the computer. Mrs. April Mahony taught us many different things in Microsoft Word. She gave us an assignment to create a menu for a restaurant inspired by a theme or country. This tested our knowledge of fonts, design, layout, and color as well as the use of margins, tabs, and spacing. My inspiration was from the country of Greece. As I created this menu, I learned so much about Word and the country of Greece. It was an amazing experience to learn about the culture of Greece through this fun project!

Classes at SBEC

Recently, I took Mrs. April Mahony’s Computer Application II class. The class was fun and I learned something new each day about how to properly and efficiently use computers.

One week, Mrs. Mahony taught our class how to properly write letters to colleges and or businesses. I thought I knew how to properly format and type a business letter, but I found out how much I didn’t know about this. Later that week we received an assignment to properly write a business letter to a college or business. I chose to write my letter to Mississippi State University. The requirements for the letter were simple. I had to make sure I had actual questions and true information regarding my purpose for writing the letter. I did not mention in my letter that I was writing it also for an assignment.

The exciting part of this project was the response I received from a representative of the college. I received a letter, and several brochures of information regarding the veterinary program Mississippi State has to offer students. I was so excited because I didn’t know I would receive a response so quickly with so much information. I highly recommend learning everything you can about proper computer etiquette, because later in life it will be an important asset.
