Winding Down a Busy Year

This year at SBEC has been very busy, eventful, and yet very enjoyable. Students are finally wrapping up another year here at SBEC, or in the senior’s case, their last year. The seniors are already off campus because they have taken their final exams and graduated last weekend. The rest of the students will begin reviewing and studying hard for their final exams next week.

I believe this has been a very successful school year and the school will only improve in the future. SBEC has reached a very important milestone in celebrating our 40th anniversary this year.

We wave goodbye to the wonderful class of 2013 as they continue on into a new chapter in life. I'm sure SBEC will always have a special part in every student’s life, even after graduation. For the rest of us who have at least another year here, it is time to hit the books one last time as we finish out the year strong. Before we know it, we will be taking the position of the next senior class. I'm looking forward to the excitement that the next couple of years will hold.

A bittersweet time

This time of year is always bittersweet for every student at SBEC. Today, we attended the senior chapel, during which the seniors told the student body and the school faculty goodbye. The seniors created a video of different groups telling their teachers goodbye, while also saying inside jokes that only the teachers and their students understood (leaving us students in the lower grades to be quite confused). At the end of the chapel, the seniors were all called on stage in the order each senior first came to SBEC, and, in unison, they made short, witty remarks outlining their time at the school. Finally, faculty members gathered around the seniors and encircled them in prayer. It's gladdening to see the seniors laugh and smile, yet it is sad to realize that this is their last day as a student of our school.

As a junior, I know that this will be me next year. I know it probably will be even more bittersweet for me then when I am the one saying goodbye to my younger friends, and reciting with my fellow seniors the different tales of comedic shenanigans that transpired within our lives at SBEC. At the same time, I will be excited about going on to college, the next major step in my life.

And so, this time of year is very significant to the SBEC student body. It is a time to say goodbye to the seniors, as well as a time for SBEC students to think about what they will do before their time to say goodbye comes.
